Speech Therapist for Central Student Health

Do you want to be part of an engaged and driven team working with language development and educational support at the individual, group, and school level? We are now looking for a speech therapist who wants to contribute to making a difference in our schools through guidance, professional development, and language-promoting initiatives.

Your Responsibilities

As a speech therapist in Central Student Health, you will work closely with two other speech therapists alongside special educators and teachers. Your responsibilities include providing guidance to workgroups, giving lectures and workshops at schools, as well as language-promoting and language-developing work. You will assess individual students' speech as needed, and it may also involve investigating specific difficulties with mathematics. Assignments are distributed by the principals of the municipal primary schools, and our interventions occur both through applications from schools and through targeted initiatives from management.

You will use your expertise to inspire and develop the student health teams and educators in the city's schools. You will implement adaptations and compensatory aids within language, reading, and writing skills, as well as provide professional development in linguistic vulnerability, language-developing methods, and AAC. If necessary, you will collaborate with external actors such as speech therapy clinics and habilitation services.

Your Qualifications

You are a licensed speech therapist, and it is an advantage if you have experience in the profession, preferably within student health or schools. You have good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written forms. Experience in guidance and consultation regarding students' language abilities is considered meritorious.

You are self-driven and enjoy taking your own initiatives and advancing your work in a structured manner. It is important that you have good collaboration skills and can create and maintain relationships. Flexibility is essential, as the work involves collectively taking responsibility for assignments based on opportunity and need.

In this position, you need to be able to travel to different schools within Västerås. A B driver's license is meritorious but not required as there are alternative connections.

Additional Information

Before you can be employed, you need to present an approved extract from the police's criminal record. During the interview, you need to verify your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or a personal certificate along with an ID document.
